Breast milk is a unique source of nutrition for babies and the benefits of breastfeeding on mother, baby, family and community health cannot be discussed. The World Health Organization recommends that all newborns be exclusively breastfed for at least 6 months and breastfeeding continues until the age of 2 years and beyond. Despite this, studies show that breastfeeding rates are not at the desired level in the world and in our country and point out that mothers should be supported more in breastfeeding. Supporting breastfeeding is a multidisciplinary issue with social and cultural dimensions. For this reason, it is very important that all professionals on the subject act together and speak the same language.
We are honoured and pleased to bring you together with a multidisciplinary perspective and to attend the 1st International Gulhane Breast Milk and Breastfeeding Congress, where we plan to talk about breast milk and breastfeeding in all aspects. While preparing our congress, we were inspired by the idea that midwives, due to their professional roles, should play a facilitating and unifying role for all those who work in the field of breastfeeding.
In the sessions where we will find the opportunity to meet with national and international experts, we aim to increase our cooperation, create a synergy among breastfeeding employees, gain different perspectives on breastfeeding and update our knowledge with pleasure, as well as sharing scientific information. In addition, while scientific sessions continue during our congress, we will organize “Meet the Expert” meetings where our breastfeeding women can participate and ask questions free of charge.
We hope to contribute to the health of the mother and baby, and we will be happy to see you among us to be one heart and one voice.
With sincere regards
